The national currency of Myanmar is the kyat. As of July, 2015: 1 CND = 894.74 MMK.
US dollars must be used for government services including train tickets and entry fees for major tourist attractions. Up until late 2012, Myanmar had a cash-only economy but recently ATMs have become increasingly widespread and credit cards are also beginning to become accepted in certain areas.
The official language of Myanmar is Burmese.
Myanmar`s population is 53.26 million as of 2013.
Canadians must present a passport to visit Burma, which must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of expected departure from that country. A visa is required for tourism and business purposes. It should be obtained prior to travel at a Burmese diplomatic mission. Travelers should check with the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar for up-to-date information.
• Northern Myanmar is generally cooler than the south, averaging temperatures of 21 degrees Celsius.
• Due to the Indian Ocean, the southern and coastal regions are much warmer with average temperatures of 32 degrees Celsius.
In order to avoid the monsoon season and the unbearably hot months, March to May, the best time to visit Myanmar is from November to February, when temperatures are relatively manageable.
