CURRENCY +

The currency used in Argentina is the Argentine Peso (ARS). As of July, 2015: 1 CAD =7.34 ARS
The currency used in Chile is the Chilean Peso. As of July, 2015, 1 CAD=512.54 CLP

CREDIT CARDS +

Visa, Mastercard and are widely accepted in Argentina and Chile, and ATMs (Cajeros automáticos) are also available in major centres. Talk to your Adventure Specialist for recommendations.

LANGUAGE +

The official language of Argentina and Chile is Spanish.

POPULATION +

As of 2013, the population of Argentina is 41.45 million and Chile's population is 17.7 million.

VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR CANADIANS +

A valid passport is required to enter the country, no visa is necessary. The passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your expected departure from the country. Canadians visiting Chile must be in possession of a tourist card (provided by the airlines). Travellers should check with the Embassy of the Argentine Republic or Embassy of the Republic of Chile or its consulates for up-to-date information.

CLIMATE +

• In both Argentina and Chile Patagonia, summers are warm and pleasant with chilly evenings
• During winter, public transport becomes difficult to use as many services close
• Northern Argentina can be extremely hot in summer and is best visited during spring
• Winter from June through August, and fall in this region are also pleasant times

WHEN TO GO +

The summer (from Dec-early March) is the best time to visit both Chile and Argentina, when the weather feels milder and more services are open.
